Citizen Police Academy

The Citizen Police Academy, which originated in 1988, is a series of 10-week sessions designed to present an overview of law enforcement and the job of a police officer to the public. Topics covered during the sessions include the following:
  • Tours of the county Jail and Crime Lab
  • Criminal Law
  • Constitutional Law
  • Traffic Stops/Radar Enforcement
  • Accident/Crash Investigation
  • Juvenile Law
  • Crime Scene Processing
  • Use of Force
  • Firearm Safety & Scenarios
  • K-9 Unit
Citizens Police Academy 2017
One 10-week academy session is offered at least once during the year and classes are normally held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. The academy is open to all residents of the Village of Bloomingdale, and to owners and employees of businesses located in the village. Class size is limited and there is no fee. Refreshments are served.
