Regional Transportation Authority (RTA)

The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA)
is the financial oversight and regional planning body for the three public transit operators in northeastern Illinois: the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra commuter rail and Pace suburban bus.

Effective March 17, 2008 senior citizens aged 65 or over living in the RTA service region (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties) are eligible for free transit on fixed routes operated by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), Metra and Pace.  For more information about the program go to the RTA website
