Village of Bloomingdale

The seven Plan Commission and Zoning Board members are Village residents appointed by the Village President to serve 3-year terms. The Commission conducts public hearings and reviews requests for new commercial and residential development, and major changes to existing development, with respect to the Village's Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan. The Commission makes findings and recommendations to the Board of Trustees who officially vote on those matters. The same seven members serve the Village's Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). The role of the ZBA is to hear requests for variances from the zoning standards, and to hear appeals from decisions of the Building Commissioner. The ZBA is also a recommending body in most cases. The Plan Commission meets on the first and third Tuesday of the Month, and the ZBA generally meets as needed on those same dates.

The Village's Planning and Development Coordinator  provides the interface and central link between the Plan Commission, developers, and Village Board of Trustees, sometimes utilizing the services of an outside planning firm as needed.
