Retail Centers

Stratford Square Mall

Strategically located in central Du Page County, Stratford Square Mall contains six anchor department stores, including both a Macy's, Sears, JC Penny's and a Carson Pirie Scott. In June of 2007, Century Theatre opened an entirely digital, state-of-the-art 16 screen theatre complex, replacing the original four-screen theatre. The theater addition has drawn restaurants back to the mall, including Red Robin in 2008. The Mall has two play areas oriented toward younger children are very popular with families, as are newer soft seating areas. The other major retailers are Kohl's, and Burlington Coat Factory.

Army Trail Road Corridor

  • Bloomingdale Court Shopping Center: Located on the south side of Army Trail Road, between Schmale Road on the east, and Knollwood Drive on the west, this shopping center is owned and managed by Simon Properties and contains over 600,000 square feet of gross leasable area. It is home to many nationally recognized big box retailers, including Best Buy, Dicks Sporting Goods, TJ Maxx, Old Navy, and Jo-Ann's, in addition to Wal Mart. Outlots along Army Trail Road contain a variety of family style dining establishments, including Chili's, Friday's, Applebee's, and Oberweiss, along with Citibank and Fifth Third Bank. The eastern section of this center has undergone a renaissance of sorts within the past few years with the addition of several restaurants and the expanded JoAnn's.
  • Bloomingdale Square contains about 75,300 square feet, and is adjacent to the Bloomingdale Court Shopping Center on the south side of Army Trail Road to the west. Anchors include Pier I Imports and Michael's. A recently added Chipotle, with its outdoor patio has drawn substantial traffic into this area.
  • West Army Trail Road at Madsen Drive is home to 150,000 sf Costco and 20,000 sf Staples. There is additional undeveloped land in this vicinity that also offers retail potential.

Gary Avenue Corridor

  • North of Schick Rd is the 220,000 square foot Meijer's department store.  Several outlots await development, along with their existing free standing service/station and convenience store.
  • South of Schick Rd is Stratford Crossing is located on the west side of Gary, between Schick Road on the north and Camden Drive on the south. Stratford Crossing is the Village's third largest retail concentration with about 334,000 square feet of leasable area. Prominent anchors include Dominick's, K-Mart, Sport's Authority, and Pet's Mart.
  • South of Camden Drive is a Barnes and Noble anchors a smaller retail concentration. Adjacent to Barnes and Noble to the south is a Lifetime Fitness Center with nearly 90,000 square feet of space in a two story building on about 15 acres.

Lake Street Corridor

  • South of Lake Street, at its intersection with Springfield Drive serves as the northwestern gateway into the Village. It is flanked on the west corner by an attractive free standing Ace Hardware, and on the east corner by Walgreens.
  • Centrally located in the Village, on the south side of Lake Street, Springbrook Mall, known as the Ridge and Lake Street Redevelopment Project Area, received Tax Increment Financing approval in March, 1999, pursuant to the powers of the Village under the Illinois Tax Increment Allocation Redevelopment Act. The district contains approximately 24 acres with 186,000 square feet of retail space. Today it is a thriving district with Caputo's Fresh Market, a popular independently owned full-service supermarket, several eateries, unique retail establishments, and several outlots, including a Chase Bank branch facility and Portillo's.
