Residential Waste Collection

The Village contracts with Republic Services for the curbside collection of household refuse, yard waste, and recyclable materials for all single-family attached and detached units. The Village's contract does not include multi-family, or commercial collection.

Refuse, Recyclables and Yard Waste must be placed at the curb prior to 6:00 a.m. on the day of collection. Refuse, Recycling and Yard Waste are all collected by different trucks running different routes, with different pick-up times. Please call Republic with collection related questions (847) 981-0091.

E-Waste  TVs, computers, laptops, keyboards, monitors, printers, peripherals, VCR/DVD players, gaming systems, MP3 players and other electronic items are banned from Illinois landfills, and will not be collected by Republic Services. The Bloomingdale Township Highway Department sponsors an Electronic Recycling Event the first Saturday of every month (except January, February, March & holiday weekends) at the Bloomingdale Township Garage, 123 N. Rosedale Ave., 8:00 a.m. to noon. A list of additional agencies accepting electronic equipment for recycling is available on the DuPage County website. 

Household Hazardous Waste items can not be collected, (Tires, propane cylinders, cleaning solvents, fertilizers/pesticides, poisons, paint thinner, oil based paints, pool chemicals, fireworks/explosives and lead acid batteries). Please check the DuPage County Waste, Recycling and Energy site, for acceptable drop-off locations.

Appliances will be picked up on the regular collection day at no additional cost, but must be arranged for in advance by calling Republic Services.

Construction Material is not covered under the Village Contract. Free estimates for collection are available by calling Republic Services.

Refuse & Recycling Cost is billed quarterly directly by Republic Services. The Monthly charge for refuse and recycling service effective March 1, 2012 are as follows:

Residential Rate: $20.65 ($10.83 Senior Rate*)

*To be eligible for the senior citizen discount, the senior resident must provide Allied Waste Service with a photo ID and proof of Bloomingdale residence (copy of utility bill).
