Meals on Wheels Volunteers
DSCC's Home Delivered Meals Program packs and delivers over 1,200 meals each weekday to frail homebound seniors, who are unable to shop or cook for themselves. All meals are packaged and delivered each weekday by a volunteer work force. Volunteers are trained in food safety and DSCC's Emergency Procedures. While these meals provide a vital balance of proper nutrients to nourish and restore the body, that is only part of the story.
The Home Delivered Meals Program also provides the imperative human connection, too often lost on seniors who live alone. The program offers the frail and homebound senior a reassuring smile, a hug, and a familiar visitor who can check that everything is okay, and get help for a senior in need. This program promotes dignified and independent living for all seniors.
If interested in volunteering one hour per day, per week, or as a substitute, please call (630) 620-0804, or visit the DSCC website.
