Mission & Purpose

It is the Village Services Department's mission to provide the highest level of service to the residents of Bloomingdale. To insure programs areoperated and maintained utilizing modern technologies and effective management practices, and are cost effective, practical, thoroughly planned, and implemented in a professional and timely manner. To promptly respond to the concerns of residents and other customers, treating them whith courtesy and with respect. To promote a positive image within our community providing quality service in a positive manner. To implement the Village mission and strategic plan to provide efficient and cost effective services to property owners of the community.

* Provide a variety of services in the interest of the health, safety and welfare of the community. Protection of residents and future residents by assuring compliance with zoning ordinances, building and infrastructure construction codes, property maintenance codes, plumbing and electrical codes, accessibility standards, stormwater management, environmental protection and other related ordinances, codes and practices.

* Provide professional consultation services to the Village President and Board of Trustees, Village Administration, Village Planning Coordinator and Plan Commission and other stakeholders programs and initiatives.

* Manage the Village infrastructure including: planning, constructing, operating and maintaining Village streets/right-of-ways, water system, sanitary sewer collection and wastewater treatment systems, storm sewer collection and treatment systems, street lighting, traffic signals, signs and sidewalks, public buildings and properties, and maintain the perpetuate urban forest; Village buildings, grounds and properties.

* Provide routine preventative and emergency Village vehicle and equipment fleet maintenance and by intergovernmental agreement provide these services to other governmental agencies' vehicles and equipment.

* Provide dependable, plentiful and safe supply of potable water in compliance with the USEPA Safe Drinking Water Act.

* Operate and maintain the sanitary sewer collection system and the Robert F. Reeves Water Reclamation Facility to provide discharges to the East Branch of the DuPage River in compliance with USEPA - National Pollution Discharge Elimination (NPDES) Permit requirements.

Operate and maintain the storm water management systems in compliance with USEPA - NPDES Phase II Permit requirements, administered by IEPA.

Maintain positive relations with the citizens and businesses of the Village and other government agencies and organizations through contacts via various media including direct public informational releases, public hearings and meeting, open houses, presentations and intergovernmental cooperation.
