The Police Department sponsors a variety of programs.

Character Counts!

The Bloomingdale Police Department is proud to be partnered with other community organizations and businesses to promote the Character Counts! Program.

Child Safety Seat Checks

The Bloomingdale Police Department offers checks of child restraint seats to Bloomingdale residents. Technicians are available by appointment only.

Citizen Police Academy

The Citizen Police Academy, which originated in 1988, was designed to present an overview of law enforcement and the job of a police officer to the public.

Citizen Volunteer in Police Service (VIP) Program

The Citizen Volunteer in Police Service Program is comprised of Bloomingdale residents that seek an active role in the community and are willing to give their time and experience.

D.A.R.E.

The D.A.R.E. program is designed to educate children in 5th grade about the hazards of using drugs and positive alternatives to substance use.

File of Life

The File of Life is a mini-medical history that provides emergency personnel with helpful information during critical and/or life-threatening situations.

National Night Out

National Night Out is a unique community-wide event to thank the members of Neighborhood Watch and participating residents who have worked with the police department and other agencies in crime and drug prevention efforts.

Neighborhood Watch

The Neighborhood Watch Program is a cooperative effort between the residents of Bloomingdale and the Bloomingdale Police Department.

R911 Guardian Call System

The R911 Guardian Program is a computerized telephone call system usedto provide residents of DuPage County reassurance in knowing their well being will be checked on a regular basis.

Senior Citizen Advisory Council

The Senior Citizen Advisory Council continues to seek new members with fresh ideas to benefit senior citizens.

Street Smart Seniors

The program educates the participants (55 years or older) in the various aspects of police work.

T.A.L.K.

The T.A.L.K. program promotes a positive contact between police and young adults and provides an open forum to ask pertinent questions.

Youth Peer Jury

The Youth Peer Jury Program works with the Police Department and provides a meaningful and remedial method of dealing with selected juvenile (under age 17) offenders without referral to Juvenile Court.

Building tours with a Halloween theme. Activities, games, and refreshments served.  Children are encouraged to wear their costumes for Trick or Treating.
