Street Smart Seniors
The Bloomingdale Police Department is encouraging all senior citizens to contact our agency to participate in the Street Smart Seniors Program. Anyone 55 years or older is invited to attend presentations by the police department regarding various topics targeted for the senior population. The program educates the participants in the various aspects of police work and personal safety issues to include the following:
- Police Department Policies/Procedures
- Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse
- Diversionary Thefts (Cons/Scams)
- Gang/Drug Awareness
- Legal Issues
- Nutrition/Fitness
- Fire Prevention
- Personal Safety Procedures
The sessions allow members of the Police Department, Village personnel, and senior citizens of the community to meet, share ideas/information, and interact in a very positive and proactive setting.
The Street Smart Seniors Program is generally scheduled in the spring and fall months of the year. The series of presentations and discussions will be held on Wednesday mornings, approximately one 4-hour session per month. Presentations will be held at various convenient locations within the community. Click on the following link - Upcoming Programs - to check on specific topics, dates, and locations for this program.
