Planning & Zoning Commission

The Planning & Zoning Commission (Commission) consists of seven members who are village residents appointed by the Village President to serve 3-year terms. The Commission conducts public hearings and reviews requests for new commercial and residential development, and major changes to existing development, with respect to the village's Zoning Ordinance and Comprehensive Plan.   The Commission makes findings and recommendations to the Board of Trustees who officially vote on those matters.  The Commission hears requests for variances from the zoning standards, and to hear appeals from decisions of the Building Commissioner.

The Village's Director of Community and Economic Development provides the interface and central link between the Planning & Zoning Commission, developers, and Village Board of Trustees, sometimes utilizing the services of an outside planning firm as needed.
