File of Life

The file of life is a mini-medical history that provides emergency personnel with helpful information during critical and/or life-threatening situations. The card, for each household member, lists the patient's name, emergency medical contacts, medical history, and medication usage.

Managing the Information

The information is kept in a red, plastic pocket file with a magnet that is held to the refrigerator/ freezer door. Its visibility and readability ensure that emergency personnel can access the card quickly when responding to a call, especially if the patient is confused, frightened or unable to offer assistance regarding needed information.

Public Safety Contribution

The Bloomingdale Senior Citizen Advisory Council along with the Bloomingdale Police Department and the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District have made the file of life information packets available to those residents in either the Village of Bloomingdale or the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District.

Peace of Mind

With the file of life, an individual may have peace of mind knowing they will have prompt and quality care, and that the proper persons will be notified quickly. Life is precious and every second counts. If you have any questions or are interested in obtaining a file of life packet, please call the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District at 630-894-9080.
