Citizen Police Academy

The Citizen Police Academy, which originated in 1988, is a series of sessions designed to present an overview of law enforcement and the job of a police officer to the public. Topics covered during the sessions may include the following: 

  • Criminal Law & Intro to the Law Enforcement Profession
  • Constitutional Law / Juvenile Law
  • Traffic Stops/Radar Enforcement/Crash Investigation
  • Use of Force & Defensive Tactics
  • Firearm Safety & Scenarios (Homeland Security Center)
  • Interviewing & Interrogation
  • Crime Scene Processing & Evidence
  • Tour of the College of DuPage Homeland Security Center
  • Tour/Overview of Addison Consolidated Dispatch Center
  • Open Forum for Questions
Citizen Police Academy 2021

Classes are normally held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. The academy is open to all residents of the Village of Bloomingdale, and to owners and employees of businesses located in the Village.

Class size is limited and there is no fee. Refreshments are served.
